Retrouvé Clean Skincare Products

We are often asked if our products are “clean.”

“Clean” is a purely subjective marketing term that is generally used as a means to describe or categorize products and/or brands that are mindfully produced without proven or suspected “toxic” or potentially harmful ingredients. Our formulations have always exceeded the commonly used benchmarks for the “clean” designation.

Many people do not realize, however, that a set legal standard or definition for what constitutes a “clean” cosmetic formulation or product line does not exist. Therefore, and in the interest of transparency, until such clarification is made, we will employ the term “Retrouvé Clean” to describe our products.

Retrouvé Clean means that our products are completely free of ingredients that are most often considered to be questionable or undesirable in a cosmetic formulation.

In addition, wherever possible, we source exceptional quality ingredients on the market from suppliers who have ethical and sustainable business practices and a history of quality, including raw material from the produce that we grow ourselves on our farm in Malibu according to the principles of permaculture.

We are delighted to share that five of our products – Luminous Cleansing Elixir, Skin Brilliance Priming Pads, Conditioning Tonic with Chamomile, Nutrient Face Serum, and Balancing Face Oil – have been certified vegan by Biorius, and we are working to incorporate more vegan products in our line. All of our products have been certified as cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny, too!
