Four Steps for Retrouvé Radiant Hands

Four Steps for Retrouvé Radiant Hands

Preserving the skin’s moisture level is essential to hand care maintenance.

Should the barrier become compromised, this delicate skin can also become more vulnerable to the negative effects of harsh chemicals, such as those found in hand sanitizers, soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, perfumes, and household cleansers. The following steps are essential for maintaining moisturized, bright, healthy-looking skin for the coveted Retrouvé radiance on your hands, too.

1. CLEANSE

Many hand soaps contain strong surfactants as well as unnecessary fragrance and artificial coloration – all of which can be potentially drying and irritating to the skin in this vulnerable area.

While originally formulated for use on the face, our emollient, gentle yet effective, fragrance-free Luminous Cleansing Elixir is also excellent for use on the hands, as it moisturizes skin while removing dirt, debris, and residue.

Luminous Cleansing Elixir features highly emollient avocado oil as well as an exclusive, pure, rich, and abundantly moisturizing avocado extract pressed from fruit that is sustainably grown on the founders’ permaculture ranch in Malibu, California. Avocado is known to be extremely moisturizing to skin; it contains a high amount of beneficial unsaturated fats (omega-3 fatty acids) and is rich in sterolin, which studies have shown facilitates the softening of the skin and can help to reduce the incidence of age spots.

The high percentage of humectant in our silky, lush, easily-spreadable cleanser also helps to impart a lasting hydrated, satiny feel to the hands.

After cleansing, be sure to rinse hands with cool to lukewarm water – extremes in temperatures can strip and dehydrate skin, causing redness and flaking. Pat skin dry gently with a clean cotton towel or soft cloth/pad – do not rub or pull at this delicate skin.

2. EXFOLIATE

For a revitalized appearance, our plush Skin Brilliance Priming Pads gently exfoliate dead tissue that would otherwise dull the appearance of hands. Skin Brilliance Priming Pads are imbued with a special blend of naturally-occurring botanical alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) via bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange, and lemon extracts to provide exfoliation and prime skin for moisturization. Our pads may be used up to twice a week following cleansing.

Allow solution to remain on skin for several minutes to dry before applying Dermal Defense Hand Cream.

Sunburn Alert: Skin Brilliance Priming Pads contain an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

3. MOISTURIZE

For best hand-care results, after washing, bathing, showering, or swimming, gently pat hands dry and immediately after, apply our Dermal Defense Hand Cream to seal in the remaining surface layer of moisture. Enriched with glycerin and sustainably sourced avocado, Dermal Defense Hand Cream helps to address the ravages of many drying environmental stressors and the desiccating effects of hand washing.

Featuring marine extracts, niacinamide, panthenol, and bakuchiol, our vitamin-infused botanically based hand cream promotes a softened skin texture as it helps to moisturize and brighten the overworked skin in this vulnerable area.

Moisturize whenever hands feel dry and not just by the clock, i.e., once in the morning and before bed, etc. At sinks within your home, at work, or even on the go, make sure to have your favorite gentle products that you have already patch tested readily available for use.

Insider Tip: For a very effective overnight treatment, we suggest applying Baume Ultime Body Oil generously to the hands and covering with clean cotton gloves for a wonderfully effective overnight moisturizing treatment!

4. PROTECT HANDS FROM THE SUN

Everyday exposure to the sun takes quite a toll on the hands over time: It can cause age spots, wrinkles, and leathering of the skin as well as lead to carcinomas. Be proactive about sun protection and use sunscreen or wear gloves when outdoors. UV exposure is cumulative and can lead to significant skin damage over time, according to The Skin Cancer Foundation.
