Retrouvé x Kelly Styne

I have always worked in the creative fields (film, editorial, fashion) and when our youngest was heading off to college, I enrolled in an art class just to do something creative until I figured out what I wanted to do for my next chapter(s). I made about ten paintings and showed a friend who a) bought one and b) introduced me to a gallery owner and thus, my artistic career was hatched.

I draw inspiration from the colors and patterns in my head and surroundings. My mother committed suicide almost 20 years ago, and I since became involved with the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital (Mental Health at UCLA). My hope is that my textual paintings will spark real conversations about mental health and share a message of positivity and humor. This is also a way for me to continue to heal and grow through a creative outlet.

My very first painting is still my favorite. It is called Chicken Enchilada, and it made me feel that anything was possible. I am not sure how I came up with the title, but it opened up a whole new world for me.

I am a fairly open book but am a work-in-progress! Each day, I continue to hopefully evolve and discover new ways to contribute in a positive way.

Several people had commented about how fun and colorful some of my art is. Soon after, I was approached by a branding company to put my art on apparel. Once I decided to move forward with the hoodies, it was important to me that a portion of the profits be donated to various charities I support. Of course, RNPH is at the top of my list; but, now with the current state of the world, there are many new causes that need attention. I was introduced to Retrouvé products about five years ago, when the brand launched. I have always loved creams – my gorgeous grandmother always taught me the importance of skincare and shared her favorites with me. I spent a lot of time in the sun on the junior tennis circuit and really damaged my skin. Once I started using Retrouvé products, people noticed a big difference in the texture and tone of my face and neck. Call me forever hooked! Ever since I was fortunate enough to meet the founder of Retrouvé, Jami Heidegger, it was love at first sight. I was so impressed by her dedication, knowledge, and passion regarding inner and outer beauty. She is truly a game changer and on the forefront of wellness. I was blown away that a woman I admire so dearly was drawn to my artwork and had an appreciation of what fuels me. We have a mutual passion for the importance of self-care. Jami came up with the idea of doing a collaboration with my art and Retrouvé’s tagline – Art. Science. Beauty. She stressed the importance of bringing positivity and brightness, which have been in short supply of late.
